Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. While music was more popular than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline.
